The Templars’ Fayre at Cressing Temple Barns, Essex
May 2003

Yet again, this was another fine Romans-to-Tudors market and fayre
by Soutares ond Clerces, co-organisers of the Oyster Fayre.

The Oyster Fayre had stalls at the Templars’ to promote
and advertise our event. The public we spoke to were fascinated
by what we will be staging in Colchester Castle Park, and the
programme of events; between us we got through over 1000 handbills.

We picked up several new traders. but more importantly
the promise of another 40 or so archers for the
Archer of the Fayre Longbow challenge.

This is so important to the Fayre, as the more archers we attract
the more followers will come. This boosts the numbers of re-enactors, and thus potential customers for the Traders.

I talked to many of the traders who will be at Oyster Fayre,
and all are looking forward to what is building to be a Major spectacle.

New traders, as they confirm, will appear in the "Latest News" as well
as in the listings. We can’t expect the 92 stalls that were at Cressing
(our fayre covers a much shorter period), but with 40 or more already, and with new traders making enquiries every day, Colchester's Fayre
is slowly gaining the attraction and momentum we have long awaited.

More news later.
